Tek Maraseni is a Professor at the University of Southern Queensland with more than 30 years of international research, teaching, and policy experience in forestry, climate change, carbon management, sustainability, ecosystem services, and natural resource management. He has conducted research across 15 countries and published over 350 journal articles, books, and policy papers, with his work widely recognized for its global impact and policy relevance. Ranked by Google Scholar as the 9th leading researcher globally in Carbon Management and 57th in Forestry, Prof Maraseni has led and contributed to major international projects funded by organizations such as ACIAR, CSIRO, the World Bank, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He currently serves on the editorial boards of three Q1 journals and holds several international scientific roles, including with the WMO. He is widely recognized for his expertise in developing high-quality, globally relevant, and highly cited research publications.

Drawing on his extensive international research and publication experience (with over 350 publications), Prof Tek Maraseni will discuss the art and science of writing high-quality journal articles, focusing on how to identify strong research gaps, develop globally relevant and publishable studies, select suitable high-impact journals, and structure manuscripts for maximum impact and citation potential. His presentations will also provide practical strategies for successful publication in Q1 journals and for responding effectively to reviewers’ comments, particularly in the areas of climate change, forestry, carbon management, sustainability, and nature-based solutions.
